What Am I Up to?

This is a very busy conference for me. I am starting off by teaching Smart Growth Class for the 21st Century, a class that NAR designed. It is a privilege to be an instructor, and a double privilege to do it at the 2013 REALTORS® Conference & Expo. There are lots of meetings I would like to attend, like the Economic Forum and the Federal Issues Forum. I have attended the Land Use, Private Property Rights, and Environment Committee meetings for many years now. For two years I was on the committee. Now I am the Vice Chair of the Smart Growth Advisory Board, so I have a meeting of that select and August group on Saturday. Similar to that is a class on place making, which is aligned with our principles of Smart Growth and is getting traction and the support of NAR.

Sunday will consist of many GREEN activities. The morning starts with a meeting of the GREEN Resource Advisory Board. The day will include several good classes on green subjects, followed by the Evergreen Awards in the evening. This is after, of course, our regional caucus meeting that I would not miss. If I find open time, I head to the trade show floor. It is there I get a great feel of the pulse of national real estate and the trends that might be important to my business. I also have to find the time for at least one sales improvement class.

I think I might need a vacation after this trip.

I would like to learn more about your class on SMART GROWTH and PLACEMAKING. Our Rotary Club just received a “Lighter, Quicker Challenge Grant” for a Little Free Library that I submitted on behalf of our Berrien Springs-Eau Claire Rotary Club. The grant came from the Southwest Michigan Association of REALTORS®.
