Overheard on Facebook – What’s the Buzz?

In just a few days I’ll be in San Francisco enjoying my favorite real estate event of the year. While I attend lots of real estate conferences and conventions, the REALTORS® Conference & Expo ranks #1 for me because it is a gathering of some of my favorite real estate folks on the planet. This conference gives me the ability to visit with the very people who normally live in my computer and who I “talk” to on a regular basis through Facebook and Twitter, follow around on Foursquare, and enjoy photos from on Instagram. As an added bonus, this year I’m honored to be one of the Featured Attendees and report on my conference activities.

I’ve been attending the NAR Convention for a number of years and have observed that there is usually “buzz” on a particular topic or product. Curious about what the theme might be this year, I posted the following question in the The National Association of REALTORS® group on Facebook:

“For those of you attending, what do you think the buzz might be in the hallways, at the expo, and in the meeting rooms?

The Facebook voices I heard from seemed to be in agreement that “data” will be a major topic of discussion. I can’t say I’m surprised since Facebook groups have for the past year been hotly debating topics like syndication, public facing MLS websites, and the role of “TZR”. (That would be Trulia, Zillow and REALTOR.org for those who haven’t been paying attention.) More voices have been heard on the subject from industry blogs and news reports.

If you are heading to San Francisco or following the convention on Conference Live, I expect that “data” will be a topic hard to avoid.
