Every year, I attend real estate-related conferences all over the country. I honestly consider myself a veteran since I’ve been going to them since 1999. And while I often see many of the same speakers and attendees, I always walk away with at least one new idea which is so important for growing our company. More importantly though, the networking and friendships I’ve made with people all over the country is something that is priceless and I know will last my lifetime.
Everyone knows that you have to invest in your business if you want it to grow. I would argue that relationship building is part of that investment if not the most important. My family of REALTOR friends have helped me on so many occasions – even when I was least expecting it. We share ideas, are always there to help each other, and often share business with each other as well.
So, in my opinion, business planning for 2013 should include attending a local, state, or hopefully the National Association of REALTORS® annual convention. When you do, come with an open mind, bring lots of business cards, introduce yourself to as many people as possible, and most of all have fun! I can honestly tell you it’s one of the things I most look forward to every year.
